Wat Umong Maha Thera Chan Ubosot January 2015 Panorama
Wat Umong Maha Thera Chan is in the center of Chiang Mai, not far from the more important Wat Chiang Man, and almost as old. It's famous for the ancient Monk's Cave, a cavern inside the old chedi where monks used to meditate. This panorama shows the the ubosot, the ordination hall that is not publically accessible. It is demarcatd by sacred boundary stones, the so-called sima (or sema). They are the white flat reliefs visible in this panorama. The ubosot is protected by fearsome dragons, who looks more like lions, as often happens in Chiang Mai.
